Two special events, from BarCampGR

These emails are very rare, but we have two special events to share with BarCampers.

Long-time BarCamp sponsor and host, Calvin College CS Dept is hosting:

Richard Stallman, founder of the Free Software Foundation, creator of the GNU
software suite, copy-lefting, etc.  RMS will speak about the goals and
philosophy of the Free Software Movement, and the status and history of the GNU
operating system, which in combination with the kernel Linux is now used by tens
of millions of users world-wide.

Free Software and Your Freedom

Covenant Fine Arts Center Recital Hall, Calvin College, 1795 Knollcrest Circle
SE Grand Rapids, MI

Note that the recital hall is located on the south-west corner of the Fine Arts
Center. Parking is available immediately around the hall or across the beltline,
accessible via an enclosed crosswalk.



Also, GRDevNight is hosting a "Meetup of meetups".  Just like the intermingling
of topics at BarCamp, this is an opportunity to learn about new and interesting
tech groups in the area.

When: Wednesday, February 8, 2017 @ 5:30p-8:00p
Where: OST, 605 Seward Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI
Why: To connect people to all the great groups and events going on in the
community and to allow them to create new ones where there is a need.

Go to http://grdevnight.org to register.  A $10 fee covers dinner.  Contact them
if you have a group not yet listed to represent.

Basic Schedule
5:15 - 6:00 Check-in
5:30 - 6:30 Dinner (BBQ with vegetarian and gluten-free options)
6:00 - 6:30 Introducing groups in attendance
6:30 - 8:00 "Birds of a Feature" hour. Attendees will be encouraged to go to at
least one group of interest and meet the organizers or other attendees. Other
topics of interested without an existing group will be given an area to meet and
brainstorm as well.
